Sending a little southern Love to all you still surrounded by snow. Me and Brig are packing today for a little vacation home:) It has taken me forever trying to figure out what to take. It is hard picturing and preparing for cold weather and snow when this winter (out here) we have totaled maybe three snow storms.. leaving no more than a skiff and no lower than 10 degree weather. I have to admit i think that i have become what my dad would call "a squat to pee". crude maybe a little but its so true i have become a warm southern sissy! I do however have to argue that I have not been changed at heart AT ALL! I know it may seem so nice having wildflowers covering your yard in mid march but truth be told, i would rather have a white Christmas and beautiful country side covered in fluffy snow any day! It had been more than a major shocker living out here.. and i mean more than getting used to the accent! lets be honest it does nothing but confuse a Wyoming girl when you have 70 degree weather in Jan! I guess what you grow up with and the things you associate home with will always have a place in your heart..

Brig had so much fun on Easter. I wanted to do the whole Easter basket, coloring & hidding eggs traditions but i wasn't sure if he was big enough to get into it.. oh man was i wrong! I hid Brigs eggs mostly on the floor level and he found every single one.. not to mention he couldn't get them open fast enough. not wanting him to be completely sticky and crazy during church i filled the plastic eggs with raisins, cheerios, apple jacks, and fruit snacks. it was so much fun seeing him enjoy such a great holiday, i can't wait until he is old enough to enjoy the true meaning of all our fun celebrations!

These were my two favorite scenery pictures from our spring break DC trip. the DC temple which is beyond beautiful especially from this view with our nations flag and the sculpted soldiers at the Korean War monument, their faces were more touching to me than any words at the memorial.

This last week Seth had spring break so our family and two other couples( and their kids) crossed the great Potomac to see all DC had to offer. We finally decided that living this close to our nations capital and still not visiting the city was unacceptable! We had to keep our trip short and im sure all of you fellow grad students know what i mean, so in the few days we had we crammed everything we could in.. and yes my legs were NOT happy. We first hit up the National ZOO, which briggy absolutely loved. he roared like the lions the entire time we were there..so cute! we saw most all of the memorial monuments and the Air and Space museum. Sure we didn't really even make a dent in our list of things we would have liked to see but considering we had 6 kids all no older than 5 and the fact that it down poured almost a full day, i would say we did pretty well.

It was exhilarating to be there in the middle of our countries capitol, surrounded by a gazillion secret service men and all the history. The old buildings were beautiful and possibly my favorite part of the city. Seth's dad (now retired) was in the secret service so i think seth's favorite part, even though he wasn't a first timer like me was most likely seeing men doing all the things his dad used to do.. he is pretty proud.. and i love that he is! Brig's favorite part was im guessing not the miles and miles walked or in his case strapped in his stroller but all the amazing animals he saw at the zoo. He loved the seals, lion, cougar, panda bear, of course the birds, and oddly enough the coral in the aquariums.
All in all, we had a amazing time. it was so nice to have family time that included no talk of school and NO studying!! it was a much needed vacation:)
